Chinstrap Penguin
Chinstrap Penguin, bronze, May 2019
This piece was commissioned by a friend who had seen, fallen in love with and photographed penguins on a voyage, and Chinstrap was developed from those photographs. I opted not to do a static standing penguin, but chose instead to try and capture the bird jumping from a rock - as it was doing in many of the photographs - which made it seem rather lively and joyous.
The piece was originally cast at the McKinney Fine Art Foundry but edition numbers 3 onwards have been cast by Gus Farnes of Creative Construct.xyz. It measures approximately 39cm H, 29cm D and 20cm W, including the base and weighs 5.3kg. It is available to buy in a limited edition of 9 (4 available). POA
