Swan Mussel

Swan Mussel was inspired by one of several shells of these freshwater mussels found on the bed of the scrape in my local nature reserve when the water dried up in Summer 2018. They can live up to 20 years or more at the bottom of lakes and rivers. The sculptural beauty and almost-but-not-quite symmetry of the object was something I wanted to capture in a near-abstract way. Available in clear or sea-glass green, but other colours and finishes possible on request.
Cold cast in epoxy glass clear or green resin on composite limestone base (measuring 22cm H, 11cm D, 11cm W), in an edition of 20.
